Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Minimum of 18 years old.
  • Minimum two years of experience as a veterinary assistant, desirable but not required.
  • Experience with basic office functions in a busy practice environment.
  • Detail-oriented with excellent communication skills.
  • Ability to handle high call volume and adapt to constant changes in the work environment.
  • Ability to lift and carry animals up to 40 pounds.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with MS Word, MS Excel, and Google Drive.
  • Comfortable with keyboarding, instant messaging, and email.

Responsibilities

  • Provide compassionate care to clients and patients.
  • Perform all duties in accordance with company policies and procedures.
  • Anticipate the needs of the doctor and ensure efficiency of appointment flow, care of emergency patients, and complete medical record keeping.
  • Prepare and maintain the exam rooms and treatment areas.
  • Admit and perform physical history and blood pressure as needed on all patients.
  • Assist with surgical/interventional procedures and monitoring vital signs of anesthetized patients.
  • Administer oral medications and effectively restrain pets for safety.
  • Perform venipuncture and ensure proper blood work recording and invoicing.
  • Position for and take radiographs, perform electrocardiograms, and assist with Holter placement and removal.
  • Prepare medications and prescriptions for dispensing as directed by the doctor.
  • Discharge all patients, reviewing diagnosis and treatment recommendations with owners.
  • Maintain appropriate medical records and communicate effectively with team members and clients.
  • Assist in training of new employees and troubleshoot office equipment as needed.
