We offer a range of services, including general treatment, advanced surgery, acupuncture, and specialized care for aging pets. We are currently seeking a compassionate and caring Veterinary Technician Assistant (VTA) to join our team. This position is available in both part-time and full-time capacities, with varied work schedules to accommodate different lifestyles. As a Veterinary Technician Assistant, you will play a crucial role in supporting our veterinary team and ensuring the well-being of our patients. Your responsibilities will include assisting with pet restraint, providing nursing care, and facilitating patient discharge. After receiving appropriate training, you will perform essential tasks such as taking x-rays, assisting with blood draws, and other basic veterinary procedures. Customer service is a key component of this role, as you will be expected to communicate effectively with clients while providing outstanding care for their pets. Additionally, you will be responsible for maintaining a clean and sterile environment within the hospital, which includes cleaning cages, feeding animals, walking dogs, bathing pets, and administering oral medications. Weekend care for boarding animals and maintaining hospital cleanliness are also part of your duties.

Responsibilities

  • Support the veterinary team with pet restraint and animal nursing care.
  • Assist with patient discharge and perform x-rays after training.
  • Help with blood draws and other basic veterinary procedures.
  • Provide outstanding customer service and communication to clients.
  • Clean cages, feed animals, and walk dogs as needed.
  • Bathe animals and administer oral medications.
  • Maintain sterile conditions throughout the hospital by performing routine and in-depth cleaning.
  • Launder towels and gowns, and clean surgical instruments.
  • Check in and stock surgical supplies, medicines, and pet food.

Requirements

  • Veterinary experience of at least 1 year (preferred).
  • Ability to lift 50 pounds and walk/restrain animals.
  • Ability to work standing and/or walking for the majority of the work shift.
  • Clear and professional communication skills to interact with team members and patients.
  • Detail-oriented, organized, and focused with the ability to follow procedures.
  • Compassion for animals and a reliable work ethic.
