About the position

We’re hiring a Veterinary Technician for our growing animal hospital. As a Veterinary Technician, you will assist the doctor with medical procedures, including surgery, while under their direct supervision. You will provide high quality care to all the pets in the hospital’s care and demonstrate excellent customer service to clients. You will deliver WOW customer service to clients and their pets, assist in surgery care relative to pre-anesthetic protocol, anesthesia monitoring, and post-operative care. You will also provide written and verbal communication to clients regarding their pet’s care, manage medical records through practice management software, dispense medication, perform x-rays, perform blood draws, place catheters, obtain samples, provide treatments, run diagnostic equipment, administer vaccines, and provide animal restraint when necessary. Additionally, you will assist with the setup, breakdown, cleaning, and maintaining of medical equipment and cleaning all areas of the hospital.

Responsibilities

  • Assist the doctor with medical procedures, including surgery.
  • Provide high quality care to all pets in the hospital.
  • Deliver excellent customer service to clients.
  • Assist in surgery care relative to pre-anesthetic protocol, anesthesia monitoring, and post-operative care.
  • Communicate with clients regarding their pet’s care and treatment plans.
  • Manage medical records through practice management software.
  • Dispense medication and perform x-rays.
  • Perform blood draws and place catheters.
  • Obtain samples and provide treatments.
  • Run diagnostic equipment and administer vaccines.
  • Provide animal restraint when necessary.
  • Set-up, breakdown, clean, and maintain medical equipment.
  • Assist with cleaning all areas of the hospital.

Requirements

  • Comfortable interacting with various types of animals.
  • Strong interpersonal and oral communication skills.
  • Ability to lift at least 40 pounds.
  • Certified veterinary technician (preferred).
  • Associate degree in veterinary assisting (preferred).
