The VMWare Resident Engineer will play a critical role in providing expert assistance, recommendations, and support for the design, configuration, installation, deployment, administration, and troubleshooting of VMware products and services. This position is essential for managing virtual digital workstations for an organization that supports over 15,000 users across two domains. The engineer will be responsible for both persistent and non-persistent machines, as well as the rollout of thin client devices. Key technologies involved in this role include VMware Horizon View, User Environment Manager (UEM), Workspace One, ThinApp, and App Volumes. In this role, the Resident Engineer will also provide operational support for all Windows system administration within the End-user Computing (EUC) space, which encompasses both Windows Server and Windows Desktop Operating systems. The engineer will be tasked with deploying and maintaining secure desktop images within the VMware virtual desktop infrastructure, ensuring compliance with organizational policies and industry standards. Additionally, the engineer will centrally store, manage, and maintain user preferences and data, as well as manage VMware AppVolumes managers, databases, App Stacks, and writable volumes. The selected individual will be expected to work independently with minimal supervision or as part of a collaborative team. A strong knowledge of MS Windows desktop operating systems, including Windows 10, Windows 11, and MS Server versions 2012, 2012 R2, and 2019 or higher, is essential. Familiarity with MS database server SQL Server versions 2008 R2, 2012, 2012 R2, and 2014 or higher is also required. A current VMware Certification, preferably a VCP6-DTM, VCP7-DTM, VCAP6-DTM, or VCAP7-DTM, is highly desirable. The role demands a strong background in Desktop Virtualization technologies, including VMware vSphere, VMware Horizon, Citrix, and Microsoft RDS.
