VOCATIONAL INSTRUCTOR, PLUMBING (CORRECTIONAL FACILITY)

About the position

The position is for a Vocational Instructor (Plumbing) at the California Substance Abuse Treatment Facility and State Prison (SATF) in Corcoran, CA. This is a limited term position for 12 months, with the possibility of extension up to 24 months or becoming permanent. The instructor will be responsible for teaching vocational courses in plumbing to individuals in a correctional facility. The role requires effective communication, primarily through email, and a commitment to fostering an inclusive and diverse workplace. The position is located in a region with a low cost of living and convenient access to various recreational areas.

Responsibilities

• Teach vocational courses in plumbing to inmates.
• Develop and implement curriculum and instructional materials.
• Assess student progress and provide feedback.
• Maintain a safe and productive learning environment.
• Collaborate with other staff and departments to support inmate rehabilitation.

Requirements

• Five years of journeyperson work experience in plumbing.
• At least one year of the required work experience must be within the three years immediately preceding the issuance of the preliminary credential.
• Graduation from high school or its equivalent.
• Possession of a valid California Teaching Credential authorizing the holder to teach vocational courses.
