About the position

The VP of Operations at Performance Foodservice is a pivotal role responsible for managing all aspects of warehouse workflow and overseeing the driver fleet. This position entails recruiting, ensuring safety and compliance, training staff, and managing the department effectively. The VP will counsel staff members and work towards achieving corporate goals set by the senior management team, ensuring the profitability of the corporation. The role requires functioning as a team member within the department and organization, performing any assigned duties to best serve the company. In this capacity, the VP will supervise associates, which includes scheduling, training, development counseling, performance management, and problem resolution. Conducting department meetings is also a key responsibility. The VP will manage inventory dollar levels to achieve optimum cash flow and service levels, develop annual budgets for the Warehouse Department, and monitor these budgets monthly. Additionally, the VP will oversee the organization of warehouse inventory on a quarterly basis and manage operations budget development and reporting. The role also involves interacting with customers and vendors in a friendly and timely manner, ensuring that their questions are answered accurately. Establishing procedures to maximize operational efficiency and productivity is crucial, as is solving operational problems and making effective decisions in situations with minimal standardization. The VP will analyze work-related situations and improve operational strategies and processes based on knowledge of the food distribution industry. Other related duties may be assigned as necessary.
