Requirements

  • Hold a high school diploma or GED.
  • Completion of DCF 45 hours.
  • 1 year of experience in a children's classroom.
  • Ability to pass a background check.
  • Possess a CDA or FCCPC with VPK training, or a degree in education or child development with specific qualifications for teaching children from birth through 8 years of age.
  • Genuine empathy and understanding of children's needs and development.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Flexibility and adaptability to meet community needs and respond to changing circumstances.
  • Capable of meeting the physical demands of working with children.

Responsibilities

  • Manage classroom activities and foster a nurturing and positive relationship with both children and their families.
  • Implement a wide range of learning experiences covering physical health, social-emotional development, and academic skills.
  • Conduct detailed assessments to tailor instruction and support each child's unique journey, including those with disabilities.
  • Encourage active, engaged learning through both outdoor and indoor activities.
  • Adhere to stringent health and safety guidelines and maintain thorough documentation.
  • Ensure open communication with parents.
