Join our growing Distribution team today. The Facilities Maintenance Technician is responsible for building and equipment maintenance and upkeep. This role requires skills in a variety of areas including plumbing, carpentry, and electrical systems. The technician will be tasked with inspecting buildings, maintaining inventory, and scheduling repairs. This position is essential to ensure that our facilities operate smoothly and efficiently, contributing to the overall success of our distribution operations. The technician will perform a variety of essential functions, including inspecting buildings and equipment to identify any issues, performing basic facility upkeep tasks such as painting, carpentry, plumbing, and limited electrical tasks like changing light bulbs. Additionally, the technician will be responsible for basic building and grounds repairs, maintenance on material handling equipment, and using power tools safely to perform job tasks. The role also involves following preventative maintenance procedures and assisting with the development and implementation of new procedures, ensuring that all equipment and systems are up to standard and functioning properly.

Responsibilities

  • Inspect buildings, equipment, and systems to identify any issues.
  • Perform basic facility upkeep tasks (painting, carpentry, plumbing, housekeeping, and limited electrical tasks such as light bulb changing).
  • Perform basic building and grounds repairs and maintenance on material handling equipment including faulty equipment units and damaged structures.
  • Use power tools to perform job tasks safely and with desired results.
  • Service basic mechanical devices and functions within the operations.
  • Operate alternate facility PIT (scissor lift, sit-down fork, floor scrubber, etc.) safely and within expectations of site leadership.
  • Follow preventative maintenance procedures and assist with the development and implementation of all new procedures.
  • Perform basic welding, wiring, motor hook ups, conveyor assembly and chain, sprocket, belt and sheave repairs.
  • Perform basic PM and repairs to UPS system, compressors, diverters, motors, photo eyes, and batteries.
  • Accurately and legibly complete required paperwork and documentation, schedule and coordinate work orders and repairs.
  • Use a PC for documentation and scheduling.
  • Conduct periodic quality checks on equipment and systems to ensure everything is up to standard.
  • Maintain the inventory records for equipment and supplies.

Requirements

  • Skilled in plumbing, carpentry, and electrical systems.
  • Ability to perform basic welding, wiring, and motor hook ups.
  • Experience with preventative maintenance procedures.
  • Ability to operate power tools and material handling equipment safely.
  • Strong organizational skills for scheduling and coordinating repairs.
  • Basic computer skills for documentation and inventory management.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in a warehouse or distribution environment.
  • Familiarity with safety regulations and procedures in a warehouse setting.
