About The Position

The Warranty Engineering Leader at GKN Automotive is responsible for overseeing the warranty management process, ensuring alignment with both GKN and customer requirements. This role involves analyzing warranty data, coordinating with customers for part retrieval, leading investigations into warranty claims, and implementing corrective actions to improve warranty performance. The position requires strong communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams to enhance customer relationships and drive continuous improvement in warranty processes.

Requirements

  • University Degree in a technical field or equivalent experience.
  • Experience working in a Quality Function.
  • Management experience in warranty management systems.
  • Experience with product warranties and analyzing warranty data.
  • Knowledge of customer standards and requirements.
  • Interpretation of drawings and technical specifications (including GD&T).
  • Experience/training with ISO/TS 16949 systems.
  • Experience conducting RCFAs (root cause failure analyses) on products.

Responsibilities

  • Implement and maintain the warranty management process as aligned with GKN and customer requirements.
  • Define methods and procedures for effective warranty part analysis.
  • Collect and analyze customer warranty data and Key Performance Indicators (KPI's).
  • Analyze warranty data for early detection of warranty peaks and reliability risk predictions.
  • Coordinate with customers to retrieve failed parts from warranty centers or directly from customer sites.
  • Lead parts return investigations to establish root cause and liability, minimizing NTF cases.
  • Follow applicable NTF processes per customer requirements.
  • Provide timely reporting of part return investigation results to customers and conclude liability.
  • Engage in regular customer meetings to develop working relationships and review warranty performance.
  • Participate or lead technical factor negotiations.
  • Assure that permanent corrective actions are defined and implemented for each GKN liability warranty claim.
  • Track warranty costs and collaborate with finance to identify ordinary and extraordinary costs.
  • Review customer warranty debit/credit notes and make objections to avoid over-payments.
  • Develop warranty improvement roadmaps to meet customer and business objectives.
  • Undertake training to improve business capability and adapt to changes in technology and quality requirements.
  • Communicate and enforce Environmental, Health, Safety and Quality policies and procedures.
