About The Position

The Waste Management Specialist/Waste Coordinator at Navarro Research and Engineering, Inc. plays a crucial role in supporting projects by managing the identification, packaging, inspection, and shipping of industrial, hazardous, and radioactive waste at the Nevada National Security Site. This position requires a blend of educational background and practical experience in waste operations, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards while promoting safety and efficiency in waste management practices.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in mathematics, physics, chemistry, or a related field, or 5 years of experience in field operations including waste operations, or a combination of education and field experience.
• Direct knowledge and experience in characterization, packaging, management, and shipment of hazardous, mixed low-level, TSCA, and low-level wastes.
• Fundamental knowledge of mathematics, physics, chemistry, and science.
• Strong reading, writing, and comprehension skills.
• Demonstrated computer skills, including word processing, spreadsheets, and email.
• Valid driver's license.
• US Citizenship required.
• Ability to obtain an HSPD 12 Badge.
• Familiarity with NNSS is desirable.

Responsibilities

• Act as Waste Management Specialist/Waste Coordinator for Industrial Sites and/or Underground Testing Area projects.
• Provide guidance to onsite personnel for waste management, including identification of waste type and proper packaging.
• Conduct regulatory required and best management practice inspections for RCRA, TSCA, and other non-regulated wastes.
• Ensure documents are clear, concise, and conform to regulatory and technical requirements.
• Work with the Waste Operations Manager to implement consistent work control processes.
