In this role, you will be responsible for the operation and maintenance of various equipment and processes within the wastewater treatment facility. You will be tasked with responding to spills and upsets, performing preventive maintenance, and troubleshooting operational issues. Your ability to monitor wastewater conditions and adjust chemical treatments accordingly will be vital in maintaining the quality of water processed at the facility. Safety is a top priority in this position. You will be expected to adhere to all safety protocols, including the use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and following standard safety procedures. You will also perform maintenance checks on safety equipment and participate in safety meetings to ensure a safe working environment for yourself and your colleagues. Additionally, you will engage in technical tasks such as maintaining operational logs, conducting laboratory tests, and communicating effectively with supervisors and engineers to identify and resolve operational challenges. Your role will also involve staying current on industry practices and developments through ongoing training and professional development opportunities.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure coordination between all shifts on operating conditions.
  • Operate process controls on equipment including pressure vessels, pumps, compressors, and more.
  • Monitor and control plant functions through computer information and manual controls.
  • Operate, control, and monitor treatment process equipment.
  • Monitor wastewater and process water conditions, adjusting chemicals as necessary.
  • Respond to spills and cleanup of upsets by taking corrective actions.
  • Perform preventive maintenance on equipment to ensure efficient operation.
  • Inspect and monitor equipment, troubleshooting operational issues as needed.
  • Maintain facility cleanliness and perform hazardous waste management duties according to guidelines.
  • Change out filters and resin in water filtration systems as needed.
  • Perform maintenance checks and service on safety equipment and stations.
  • Apply proper safety precautions and adhere to all safety procedures.
  • Perform troubleshooting functions and make routine adjustments to equipment.
  • Use computers to track work orders and maintain operational logs.
  • Conduct various process control tests and analyze samples.

Requirements

  • Experience in wastewater treatment operations or related field.
  • Knowledge of safety protocols and procedures in a wastewater plant.
  • Ability to operate and maintain various types of equipment and machinery.
  • Strong troubleshooting skills and ability to perform routine adjustments to equipment.
  • Familiarity with permit requirements and compliance standards for wastewater operations.
  • Proficient in using computers for tracking and logging operational data.
  • Ability to perform mathematical calculations for compliance and chemical dosages.
