About the position

Texas A&M University is seeking a Web Communications Specialist II to join the School of Education and Human Development (SEHD). This role is pivotal in designing, writing, editing, and developing creative solutions to enhance the web ecosystem, making it dynamic and appealing to students and other audiences. The specialist will work under general supervision and will be responsible for managing, writing, editing, and auditing web content for clarity and accuracy. This includes proofreading all SEHD websites and other items within the web ecosystem, ensuring adherence to college and university brand guidelines, and implementing best practices across all websites. The position also involves regular audits of college webpages for accessibility and maintaining brand standards for both the college and university. In addition to website maintenance, the Web Communications Specialist II will aid in the development of themes and templates for the SEHD websites and develop custom tools for the web ecosystem. Collaboration with the Marketing and Communications team is essential, as the specialist will work with writers to develop keywords that promote SEO and research new tools and trends to keep the web ecosystem engaging. The role also includes assisting in the development of communications plans for the marketing and communications team and supporting special events as needed. The specialist will work with vendors to create fiscally responsible plans for upgrades in the web ecosystem and perform other duties as assigned. Responsibilities

  • Manage, write, edit, and audit web content for clarity and accuracy.
  • Proof all College of Education and Human Development websites and other items in the web ecosystem.
  • Regularly audit all college webpages for accessibility using appropriate tools.
  • Maintain brand standards for both college and university.
  • Supervise student workers and manage WordPress training for end users.
  • Aid in the development of themes and templates for the SEHD websites.
  • Develop custom tools for use across the web ecosystem.
  • Collaborate with writers on the Marketing and Communications team to develop keywords for SEO promotion.
  • Research new tools and trends to keep the web ecosystem engaging.
  • Assist in the development of communications plans for the marketing and communications team.
  • Support special events as needed.

  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Two years of related experience in web development, marketing, or a related field.
  • Working knowledge of both Macintosh and PC systems as well as design programs and effective use of video and photography equipment.
  • Knowledge of WordPress and other CMS used on campus.
  • Knowledge of graphic design for electronic mediums.
  • Ability to multitask and work cooperatively with others.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
