The Web Developer for Marketing and Communications at Southeast Missouri State University is responsible for designing, coding, and modifying websites to ensure a seamless user experience.   • Develop and maintain SEMO's websites, ensuring a consistent look and feel across all pages.
  • Write well-designed, testable, and efficient code using best software development practices.
  • Create layouts and user interfaces using standard HTML/CSS practices, integrating data from various back-end services and databases.
  • Collaborate with designers, content creators, and other stakeholders to match visual design intent.
  • Optimize websites for maximum speed and scalability.
  • Ensure functionality and stability across devices (desktop, mobile, tablet) and browsers.
  • Conduct testing and debugging to ensure high-quality performance and technical health.
  • Provide ongoing maintenance and stay up-to-date on emerging technologies and industry trends to incorporate them into operations and activities.
  • Collaborate with team members to achieve University goals, create effective campaigns, and elevate the SEMO brand.
  • Bachelor's degree in web development, computer science, information technology, or a related field.
  • Proven experience as a web developer with a strong portfolio of successful web projects.
  • Experience with front-end development web programming languages such as HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and Velocity, and with frontend frameworks/libraries.
  • Experience with back-end languages and frameworks such as PHP, Python, and Node.js.
  • Knowledge of content management systems (CMS) like Cascade.
  • Knowledge of web analytics and tracking tools like Google Analytics.
  • Knowledge of responsive web design, user-experience design, and cross-browser compatibility.
  • Knowledge of SEO principles.
  • Knowledge of web accessibility standards as described in WCAG 2.0.
  • Understanding of databases (SQL/NoSQL) and experience with version control systems.
  • Familiarity with web security principles.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
