About the position

The Welder Assembler position at Johnson Controls International plc in Waynesboro, PA, involves performing complex hand welding operations on a variety of metals, both ferrous and non-ferrous. The role requires certification to handle high strength and pressure welding tasks in accordance with ASME code. The successful candidate will be expected to work from detailed drawings and schematics, demonstrating a solid understanding of valves, fittings, and controls necessary for different refrigerants. This position is critical in ensuring that all welding meets stringent quality and safety standards. In addition to welding, the Welder Assembler will be responsible for layout, cutting, and fitting parts to meet precise drawing tolerances. The role involves operating various hand and semi-automatic electric machines, as well as oxy-acetylene equipment for welding. The candidate must be adept at regulating current and voltage, selecting appropriate tips and rods for different welding jobs, and using hand or power tools to clean weld beads post-operation. Attention to detail is paramount, as the individual will need to manipulate electrodes to create smooth and even welds while avoiding undercutting of metal. The position also includes performing experimental work for non-standard parts, detecting unusual conditions or defective materials, and maintaining necessary records related to time, quality, and quantity of work. A clean and safe work environment is essential, and adherence to 5S standards is expected. The Welder Assembler may also participate in special work teams, engaging in activities such as Kaizen events and problem-solving exercises, while following all safety policies and procedures.
