About the position

Victaulic is seeking an experienced Pipe Welding Trainer to develop the welding skills of employees, ensuring they meet industry standards. The role involves evaluating skill levels, designing training programs, providing hands-on instruction in various welding techniques, assisting in certification processes, and mentoring team members while maintaining compliance with industry codes.

Responsibilities

  • Evaluate employees' welding skills to identify strengths and areas for improvement.
  • Provide hands-on training in pipe welding and plate welding using FCAW, GMAW, GTAW and other arc welding processes.
  • Create and deliver clear verbal, written, and visual training materials, including instructional guides, presentations, and videos.
  • Conduct welder testing and certifications, ensuring employees meet AWS/ASME and other relevant standards.
  • Interview and assess welder candidates for skills, knowledge, and certification readiness.
  • Develop individualized training plans to address skill gaps and advance welding capabilities.
  • Monitor and track employee progress through training programs, providing constructive feedback and encouragement.
  • Identify potential employees for advanced welding roles and support their career development.
  • Maintain accurate records of welder certifications and qualifications.
  • Stay updated on industry advancements and integrate new welding techniques into training programs.
  • Assist in training employees on robotic welding systems, with programming experience preferred.
  • Promote adherence to FEM/5S principles and workplace safety standards.

Requirements

  • Extensive experience with pipe welding and stainless steel welding.
  • In-depth knowledge of welding processes, including FCAW, GMAW, GTAW and other arc welding methods.
  • Proven experience in welder testing and certification processes.
  • Familiarity with industry standards such as ASTM, AWS/ASME, and AWWA.
  • Ability to interpret blueprints, schematics, and welding symbols.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to mentor and positively influence team members.
  • Proficiency in shop math and the use of measuring tools (calipers, micrometers).
  • Computer literacy, including experience with Microsoft Office Suite.

Nice-to-haves

  • Robotic welding programming experience is a plus.
