About the position

Washington Gas has an immediate opening for an Associate Operations Specialist to serve as liaison between Washington Gas construction staff, corporate communications staff, contractors, customers, builders, community and industry organizations and others regarding various construction activities involving replacement and new business project status.

Responsibilities

  • Serves as liaison with Construction, Replacement, and Construction Support Services management teams to effectively communicate the status of construction projects to various internal and external audiences, including internal groups, customers, contractors and industry organizations.
  • Effectively responds with the status of construction activity to customers, internal personnel, and external audiences in a timely manner by performing research using a variety of internal systems and tracking reports.
  • Works closely with internal and external construction personnel to respond to and address customer issues in a timely manner and serves as key contact for incoming telephone or written inquiries.
  • Provides information about construction projects, project scheduling and other information to customers and external audiences by, providing information to Corporate Communications to be posted on the Washington Gas website.
  • Compiles responses from customer survey results to determine which contractor performed work and resolve any issues, as well as, identify trends for process improvements.
  • Determines what types of communications (door hangers, letters, etc.) are needed and ensures that they are distributed/provided to customers and contractors.
  • Maintains logs, contact lists, and distributes reports on various construction project updates.
  • Develops and follows up on critical external communication process to manage non-responsive customers impacted by construction projects.
  • Maintains current knowledge of company's policies and procedures specifically related to the Construction Division.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED. Associate's Degree preferred.
  • 0-2 Years of relevant experience.
  • Demonstrate working knowledge of construction, customer service and/or customer relations preferred.
  • Working knowledge of Washington Gas systems such as WMIS and other databases preferred.
  • Demonstrated general knowledge of construction management business processes preferred.
  • Ability to facilitate a meeting.
  • Demonstrated ability to clearly and concisely communicate information to diverse audiences, in person, on the phone and in writing.
  • Demonstrated ability to coordinate outreach efforts with professional & community organizations.
  • Proven ability to use computer software and applications, including Microsoft Office Excel, Word and PowerPoint, to share, retrieve, research and present business information.
  • Demonstrated ability to establish rapport and effective working relationships with business partners, supervisors and peers.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects and tasks simultaneously.
