About the position

The Wholesale Accountant I plays a crucial role in the Wholesale Accounting team at Windstream, overseeing significant cash costs and ensuring accurate reporting of wholesale expenses. This position involves monthly variance analysis, reconciliation of expenses, and collaboration with various teams to maintain compliance with accounting principles and internal controls.

Responsibilities

• Prepare General Ledger entries and reconciliations for timely month-end close.
• Conduct detailed review and analysis, preparation, and presentation of balance sheet and income statement results.
• Prepare and analyze monthly balance sheet reconciliations, resolving outstanding items.
• Assist in coordinating the internal and external audit process.
• Document and monitor internal controls.
• Collaborate with Access and Financial Planning teams to ensure accurate presentation of disputes, contract credits, and expenses.
• Maintain accounting records in accordance with GAAP, company policies, and legal agreements.
• Assist on special projects as needed.
• Expect overtime at various points throughout the month.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting/Finance.
• 1-2 years of professional level experience in accounting or finance, or 5+ years of related experience.
• Proficiency in MS Office (Excel, Outlook, Word, PowerPoint).
• Experience with JD Edwards and Strategy is desirable but not required.
• Strong understanding of accounting principles and internal controls.
• Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to prioritize work to meet deadlines.
• Solid problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
