About the position

The Wholesale Underwriter position is a critical role within our established company, offering competitive pay and a fun work environment. As a Wholesale Underwriter, you will be responsible for reviewing and evaluating various financial documents, including credit reports, preliminary reports, judgments, bankruptcy documents, appraisals, and income documentation. Your expertise will be essential in ensuring that all necessary documentation is requested to support final loan decisions, thereby contributing to the overall success of the organization. In this role, you will perform underwriting findings using tools such as DU/LE/Assetwise, create loan conditions, and prepare and mail conditional approval letters in compliance with regulation B/ECOA. You will also analyze and calculate income documentation, including personal and business income statements, to ensure accuracy and completeness. Regular communication with clients is a key aspect of this position, as you will contact them to review loan programs and conditions, follow up on appraisals, and verify employment when applicable. Additionally, you will be responsible for approving complex loans across various product types, including conforming, jumbo, CBLX, CALHRA, wholesale, and purchase products. You will also assist the Director of the department with special projects and ensure quality control of broker packages. This position is ideal for candidates who are detail-oriented and possess a strong understanding of the underwriting process.

Responsibilities

  • Review and evaluate credit reports, preliminary report, judgments, bankruptcy documents, appraisal and income documentation.
  • Perform DU/LE/Assetwise and investor underwriting findings; create loan conditions; prepare and mail conditional approval letter/NOI per regulation B/ECOA.
  • Analyze and calculate Income Documentation such as personal and business income statements.
  • Ensure all necessary documentation is requested to support final loan decisions.
  • Contact client to review loan program and conditions.
  • Follow up on appraisals and any outstanding conditions.
  • Perform verbal verification of employment on borrower, if applicable.
  • Contact client via phone, e-mail on a regular basis.
  • Approve complex loans on conforming, jumbo, CBLX, CALHRA, wholesale and purchase products.
  • Assist the Director of the department on special projects.
  • Quality control broker packages.

Requirements

  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
