The Wholesale Underwriting Risk Officer is a pivotal role within City National Bank of Florida, primarily responsible for managing the financial needs of clients while ensuring a favorable overall client experience. This position is crucial for expanding client relationships and involves significant responsibilities in commercial and industrial underwriting as well as commercial real estate underwriting. The incumbent will take the lead in identifying debt product opportunities that align with client needs and will be accountable for all aspects of due diligence, underwriting, structuring, and preparing credit packages for review and approval. This role requires direct interaction with clients, emphasizing the importance of building and maintaining strong client relationships. It is important to note that this position does not involve residential or consumer mortgage underwriting. The primary duties include underwriting new loans for Commercial & Industrial and Commercial Real Estate, ensuring sound lending decisions while maintaining quality control of new loans, which is essential for the bank's operational integrity. Given the absence of automated systems for preliminary loan structure determinations, the incumbent must make informed decisions within their delegated lending authority and provide recommendations for loans that require higher levels of approval based on independent analysis and interpretation of cash flows and banking lending risk guidelines. The role demands timely delivery of the end-to-end debt product management process, primarily within the Wholesale Lines of Business, which includes Corporate Banking, Business Banking, and the Private Client Group. The incumbent will also occasionally support the PBB LOB (Retail). Collaboration with Relationship Managers is key, as the officer will lead due diligence, credit package production, and the approval process. A thorough understanding of the client's industry is essential, including knowledge of benchmarks, standards, methodologies, and current industry practices. The officer is responsible for executing underwriting risk management processes consistently and effectively, working closely with the client team to provide necessary support with Treasury Management, Loan Operations, and other related areas. The role also entails accountability for asset quality by adhering to the bank's policies, guidelines, and risk tolerances, ensuring that credit events and monitoring information are accurately entered into the appropriate systems, and maintaining compliance with credit policies and regulatory requirements.
