About the position

The WIC Community Coordinator plays a vital role in the Community Health Programs by acting as the administrative officer for the WIC program. This position focuses on developing and maintaining relationships with health and human services providers, advocacy organizations, and community groups to facilitate referrals and enhance the outreach of WIC services. The Coordinator is responsible for building a referral network, conducting outreach activities, and representing WIC at community events, all while supporting the mission and values of Community Health Programs.

Responsibilities

• Develops a comprehensive listing and maintains working relationships with health and human service providers and advocacy organizations.
• Maintains the Massachusetts WIC Community Network Database with community contacts and outreach activities.
• Facilitates or conducts periodic in-services for staff and clients at local health and human service providers.
• Develops, implements, and submits the annual outreach plan and progress report in coordination with management staff.
• Attends Community Coordinators' Quarterly Meetings and training sessions.
• Provides WIC program education and outreach materials to local agencies and advocacy groups.
• Represents WIC on committees or state public health initiatives and at community health fairs.

Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree in a related field preferred.
• Two years' experience in community work or health and human services desirable.
• Knowledge of the community and neighborhoods served by the local WIC program.
• Fluency in English; bilingual is preferred.
• Well-organized and systematic approach to work.
• Good oral and written communication skills.
• Sensitivity to the needs of the participant population.
