About The Position

The WIC Eligibility Caseworker is responsible for determining and documenting the eligibility of applicants for the WIC program, ensuring compliance with program integrity requirements. This role involves verifying identity, residency, and income, as well as maintaining accurate records and providing support to participants through various services.

Requirements

  • High School graduation or equivalent.
  • Three years of office support experience.
  • Thorough knowledge of office practices and procedures.
  • Working knowledge of a variety of software packages.
  • Writing skills used to correspond with clients and community members.
  • Ability to take initiative and work independently.
  • Ability to work with hostile or emotionally distraught individuals.
  • Ability to type with accuracy at the speed required by the position.
  • Ability to document complex situations in a comprehensive manner.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide whole numbers and fractions.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with the WIC program.
  • Bi-lingual (Fluent in English and Spanish).

Responsibilities

  • Initiates patient master record at the initial appointment for WIC services.
  • Interviews patient and enters demographic information into the system.
  • Documents required information regarding voucher issuance into the system and issuance logs.
  • Obtains participant signatures to document receipt of vouchers.
  • Schedules subsequent appointments for required assessment and counseling.
  • Instructs participant classes on proper redemption of vouchers at vendor establishments.
  • Teaches mini nutrition lessons to individual participants at voucher issuance.
  • Mails vouchers to participants with serious medical conditions.
  • Protects confidential patient information.
  • Communicates and offers input regarding clinic protocol and procedures.
  • Completes annual individual performance agreements to enhance program services.
  • Assists with outreach efforts to increase program awareness.
