Wildfire Mitigation Risk Analyst

About the position

Idaho Power - located in vibrant Boise, Idaho - is looking for a Wildfire Mitigation Risk Analyst to join our Wildfire Mitigation Team. This is a full-time, permanent role. It's an exciting time to work for Idaho Power. Our work plays a critical role in the communities we serve across Idaho and Oregon, and we're working hard to safely provide our customers with the reliable, affordable, clean energy they can depend on. While this position is based at Idaho Power's downtown Boise location, we offer both flexible schedules and the opportunity to work up to 40% remote. Relocation assistance may also be provided to the successful candidate.

Responsibilities

• Perform wildfire risk assessments and quantification in support of mitigation planning across Idaho Power's service territory.
• Analyze probabilistic, financial, engineering, and geospatial datasets along with fire return intervals, vegetation, and weather history.
• Collaborate with regulatory agencies to explain and support risk modeling techniques.
• Assess risk spend efficiency and the cost-benefit of mitigation initiatives.
• Stay current with advancements in wildfire risk modeling, data analytics, and utility infrastructure resilience.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• 5 years of experience in utility operations, wildfire mitigation, or program management.
• Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record.

Nice-to-haves

• Bachelor's degree in forestry, computer science, statistics, finance, engineering, accounting, or mathematics.
• Experience in wildfire risk analytics, wildfire risk mitigation activity implementation, fire modeling, management of small to medium scale projects.
