About the position

ConocoPhillips is seeking a highly skilled Willow Project Engineer specializing in Electrical and Instrumentation for a contract position based in Houston, TX. This role is pivotal in assisting the Project Team with the planning and organization of daily project activities. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in supporting the administration of project teams and coordinating activities across various project locations. The Project Engineer will be responsible for ensuring that all project objectives are met, particularly concerning safety, environmental standards, cost management, scheduling, work environment, and quality assurance. In this position, the Project Engineer will be tasked with organizing and controlling project work, ensuring that all decisions and activities align with the project's objectives and priorities. The role involves preparing and delivering presentations on project issues, assisting Project Control in the preparation of cost estimates, and obtaining necessary approvals for planned work. Monitoring progress, manpower, and budget will be essential, as will keeping team members informed about project developments. The Project Engineer will also oversee project document development and manage project change and variation orders, promoting knowledge sharing and fostering good communication and cooperation with management and key stakeholders. This contract opportunity is designed for senior-level professionals with a minimum of 7 years of experience in the field. Candidates should possess a deep understanding of advanced aspects of electrical and instrumentation engineering and be recognized as experts in their discipline. The role requires the application of a broad range of competencies to develop solutions for complex problems and the ability to influence others to achieve project objectives. Additionally, the Project Engineer will often provide specialized technical guidance to other team members within the department or business asset.

Responsibilities

  • Assists the Project Team in planning and organizing day-to-day project activities.
  • Supports administration of the project teams and the coordination of activities between project locations.
  • Assists in organizing and controlling project work to ensure that all project objectives are being met with regard to safety, environment, cost, schedule, work environment, and quality.
  • Ensures that all decisions and activities within the various project teams support the project's objectives and priorities.
  • Prepares and gives presentations on project issues.
  • Assists Project Control in the preparation of cost estimates.
  • Obtains all necessary approvals for planned work.
  • Monitors progress, manpower, and budget.
  • Keeps team members informed on Project progress and developments.
  • Monitors project document development and project change and variation orders.
  • Promotes knowledge sharing and contributes to good communication and cooperation with Management and key individuals.

Requirements

  • Senior level, typically 7+ years of experience.
  • Understands advanced aspects of discipline and is viewed as an expert in a given field.
