About the position

The Windows/Linux System Administrator III position is a critical role within our team, located in Albuquerque, NM. This position requires an experienced Windows System Administrator who is adept at managing both classified and unclassified machines in a highly secure environment. The successful candidate will work entirely onsite, collaborating with a diverse team that includes System Administrators specializing in both Windows and Linux, desktop support technicians, Certified Project Managers, Solution Architects, and Cyber Security personnel. The primary focus of this role is to support mission projects for various internal and external government agencies, ensuring that all systems operate efficiently and securely. In this role, the selected applicant will provide comprehensive server support in a physical and virtual Windows-based environment. If the candidate possesses Linux experience, they will also be tasked with supporting RedHat Linux servers. A significant aspect of the job involves automating tasks using scripting languages such as PowerShell, Bash, or Ansible, which is essential for enhancing operational efficiency. The candidate will also be responsible for networking tasks, from machine to wall, and must be prepared to troubleshoot network and server issues independently. Given the sensitive nature of the work, it is imperative that the candidate is comfortable operating in a highly secured area, adhering to all security protocols and guidelines.

Responsibilities

  • Provide classified and unclassified server support in a physical and virtual Windows-based environment.
  • Support RedHat Linux servers if the candidate has Linux experience.
  • Automate tasks using PowerShell, Bash, or Ansible.
  • Perform networking tasks from machine to wall and troubleshoot network and server issues independently.
  • Work in a highly secured area, adhering to all security protocols.

Requirements

  • BS/BA in Computer Science or related field and two years related experience.
  • US Citizen.
  • Must be willing to take and pass a Polygraph, if necessary.
  • Must have an active DOE Q Clearance Minimum to start or DoD Top Secret with reciprocity.
  • Windows Server System Administration experience of at least 1-3 years.
  • Familiarity with network protocols and network management technologies.
  • Skill utilizing software diagnostic tools and the ability to conduct appropriate troubleshooting processes and conduct appropriate upgrades.
  • Ability to understand the application and utilization of software packages, maintain accurate records.
  • Ability to research, assemble, and evaluate information or data regarding industry practices or applicable regulatory changes and recommend sound, practical solutions to complex issues.
  • Ability to define systems requirements based on user/client needs, cost, and required integration with existing applications, systems, or platforms.
  • Ability to define technical standards and functionality tests, and to develop specifications, prototypes, or initial user guides.
  • Computer and network troubleshooting skills.
  • Excellent customer service and communication skills with customers, vendors, and database administrators.
  • Ability to work well in a collaborative team environment.

Nice-to-haves

  • STIG or system hardening experience.
  • Linux Server System Administration & UNIX experience of at least 1-3 years.
  • Prior working experience with Sandia infrastructure.
  • Automation platforms such as Ansible, VMware, Python experience of at least 1-3 years.
  • Experience leading and implementing large technical solutions.
  • RHCE/CCNA certification.
