About the position

The Workers' Compensation Claims Adjuster Analyst I at Ahold Delhaize USA is responsible for managing and investigating workers' compensation claims to determine their compensability. This role involves direct interaction with various stakeholders, including associates, attorneys, healthcare providers, and vendor partners, while ensuring compliance with legal obligations and achieving established claims goals. The position offers a hybrid work schedule, requiring one in-person day at a core location and four remote days.

Responsibilities

  • Manage a caseload of workers' compensation claims within established targets.
  • Conduct thorough investigations, evaluations, negotiations, and dispositions of claims.
  • Monitor and ensure timely execution of all statutory deadlines and legal filings.
  • Analyze the facts of the loss to develop strategies for optimal outcomes and mitigate costs.
  • Identify fraud indicators and pursue subrogation opportunities.
  • Collaborate with the Safety department to identify and minimize risks in operations.
  • Build and maintain positive relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Manage a book of claims business with authority to settle claims up to $50,000.
  • Communicate ongoing causes of WC injuries to Safety and Brands.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for resolving claim issues.

Requirements

  • Licensed adjuster or ability to obtain a license as appropriate by jurisdiction.
  • Bachelor's degree or 4 years of workers' compensation claims experience.
  • Thorough knowledge of rules, regulations, statutes, and procedures pertaining to workers' compensation claims.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology involved in complex claims.
  • Strong negotiation skills.

  • Experience in risk management and insurance.
  • Familiarity with safety protocols in retail and distribution operations.
