About the position

A working foreman is responsible for the direction, guidance, safety health and welfare, of all site staff including documentation and execution of the day-to-day field operational needs of the individual project. The Foreman assists the Superintendent in managing the day-to-day crews and sub-contractors. They ensure safe working conditions, everyone is trained and understands all hazards of each job site, and what is taking place with respect to productivity.

Responsibilities

  • Is directly responsible for leading and working along with a crew which consist of Journeyman, Apprentices, Operators, and Groundmen.
  • Lay out work and make certain that materials, tools, equipment and information are on the job site in the proper locations to meet construction schedules.
  • Interact with Superintendent or Project Manager and on smaller projects may oversee complete installation.
  • Possess Journeyman license where required.
  • Report to assigned job site location on time or as directed.
  • Monitor work in progress.
  • Evaluate fellow employees work performance.
  • Train field personnel in technical skills and safety methods.
  • Communicate to the crew, subcontractors and owner to maintain a good working relationship.
  • Inventory, record keeping, organization and usage of materials required.
  • Read and understand all contract requirements and paperwork documentation.
  • Direct, schedule, address disciplinary or employment issues, and approve timesheets of crew.

Requirements

  • Minimum 4 years relative experience in the utility industry required.
  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Active, Valid Driver's License.
  • Active, Valid DOT Medical Examiner's Certificate.
  • Department of Labor Recognized Journeyman Lineworker Certification.
