About the position

The X-Ray Technologist position at Altru Health involves working evening shifts from 2 PM to 10 PM or 3 PM to 11 PM, Monday through Friday, with a total of 40 hours per week. The role may require occasional rotating shifts on holidays and being on call at times. As a Diagnostic Radiology Technologist, the primary responsibility is to educate patients about the radiology procedures, ensuring their comfort and safety throughout the process. The technologist will perform all necessary radiographic procedures while monitoring the patient’s condition and comfort level during the imaging process. The position requires a solid understanding of Computer Radiology (CR) and Digital Radiography (DR) principles. The technologist must select the appropriate technical factors and operate the equipment to produce high-quality radiographs, utilizing all necessary radiation safety devices. Additionally, the technologist will review images for quality and completeness according to standard operating procedures and the preferences of the healthcare providers, ensuring proper labeling and collimation. In this role, the technologist will also prepare and administer IV and oral contrast under the direction of a Radiologist or Radiologist Assistant. Providing individualized patient care is essential, as is educating patients and their families to enhance their understanding of the procedures. The technologist will monitor patients for comfort and safety, ensuring that prior images are available and completing all necessary Epic processes. Pain assessments will be performed, and appropriate actions will be taken according to standard operating procedures. Other duties may be assigned as needed to meet the department's and organization's needs.

Responsibilities

Requirements

  • Certification as a Radiographer from the American Registry of Radiologic Technologist (ARRT) prior to start date.
  • North Dakota Medical Imaging License from the North Dakota Medical Imaging and Radiation Therapy Board of Examiners prior to start date.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association (AHA) within 90 days of start date.
