About the position

The Diesel Technician Mechanic Mobile Refrigeration at Penske is responsible for diagnosing, overhauling, adjusting, and repairing refrigeration units on commercial trucks and trailers. This role requires a focus on maintaining and servicing Carrier and Thermo King refrigeration equipment, ensuring that all work is performed safely and efficiently with minimal supervision.

Responsibilities

• Perform all levels of maintenance services on refrigeration units such as Carrier and Thermo King.
• Test lines, components, and connections using electrical, mechanical, and pneumatic test equipment.
• Read complex schematics associated with refrigeration and air conditioning equipment.
• Identify warrantable repairs and document them on repair orders.
• Maintain work area appearance and safety standards.
• Road test vehicles to diagnose malfunctions or ensure proper functioning.
• Perform duties with little or no supervision in a timely manner.
• Use hand tools and power tools for maintenance tasks.
• Provide support for preventative maintenance and tractor trailer maintenance as required.
• Inspect and verify dimensions and clearances of parts for conformance to specifications.
• Complete other projects and tasks as assigned by the supervisor.

Requirements

• 6 years practical experience with tractor trailer maintenance required.
• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Vocational/Technical certification preferred.
• Specialized training and experience in refrigeration component overhaul required.
• ASE Certification preferred.
• 608/609 certifications preferred.
• Proficiency in the use of necessary tools of trade required.
• Current CDL license with air brake certification preferred.
• Basic computer skills including Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook required.
• Ability to work in a non-climate controlled environment is required.
• Understanding and compliance with specific instructions and safety policies are required.
• Regular, predictable, full attendance is an essential function of the job.
