About the position

The Field Engineer at Aecon will play a crucial role in the design and construction of the Interstate-90 (I-90)/State Road-18 (SR-18) to Deep Creek Interchange Improvements project in Snoqualmie, Washington. This position involves providing field-engineering information to ensure compliance with design drawings, engineering standards, and specifications. The Field Engineer will support project management and sub-trades, ensuring that construction works are executed safely, on schedule, and within budget.

Responsibilities

  • Meet daily with project crews to review production schedule and confirm availability of materials, equipment, and resources.
  • Collect, coordinate, and analyze shop drawings, design specifications, and project data to ensure compliance with quality and contract specifications.
  • Provide technical input for project work plans and scheduling, identifying risks that could impact budget or schedule.
  • Evaluate daily production, schedule, and budget projections to track project performance and document activities.
  • Notify team members and management of significant schedule changes and recommend solutions.
  • Remit accurate project quantity input and manage cost coding for financial reporting.
  • Review project specifications for quality assurance and manage necessary documentation.
  • Plan field layout on the project site and manage permits needed before work begins.
  • Coordinate subcontractor work methods, schedules, and crews as needed.
  • Reconcile job close-out checklist with owner representatives and field crews at project completion.

Requirements

  • Post-secondary education in Civil Engineering or Construction Management, or a combination of education and experience.
  • 3-5 years of experience as a Field Engineer or Project Coordinator in project engineering or heavy civil construction.
  • Knowledge of construction equipment, techniques, drawings, specifications, and applicable standards.
  • Proficiency in construction-related software (e.g., Primavera, AutoCAD, SAP).
  • Excellent computer skills, particularly in MS Office applications.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, both written and oral.
  • Flexibility to work in both field and office environments.
