About the position

The IRS Criminal Investigator (Special Agent Entry Level) position offers an opportunity to utilize criminal investigative and financial skills to combat financial crimes. This entry-level role is designed for individuals with a recent college degree or relevant experience, providing a pathway to a fulfilling career in federal law enforcement. Special Agents will engage in various investigative activities related to tax fraud, public corruption, cybercrimes, and more, contributing to the enforcement of criminal statutes and the protection of public interests.

Responsibilities

• Conduct investigations into financial crimes including tax fraud and public corruption.
• Utilize accounting skills to analyze complex financial records and transactions.
• Testify as a government witness in court cases.
• Assist U.S. attorneys in preparing cases for trial.
• Conduct surveillance and undercover operations as needed.
• Evaluate and recommend actions based on gathered information to identify noncompliance.
• Possibly serve as a team leader or expert consultant in investigations.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree with accounting coursework or relevant criminal investigative experience.
• Ability to analyze and evaluate evidence and draw sound conclusions.
• Experience in conducting interviews and assembling facts through investigative techniques.
• Strong oral and written communication skills for reporting and presenting findings.
