About the position
The ESE Assistant - Behavioral Health position at Clay County School District is a full-time role focused on supporting students with behavioral health needs. The assistant will work closely with special education students, ensuring their safety and well-being while assisting in their educational activities. This role requires specific training and certifications to effectively manage and support students in a school environment.
Responsibilities
- Assist special education students with behavioral health needs in their daily activities.
- Complete required training within the first six months of employment, including Safe Crisis Management, First Aid, CPR, and Medication Administration.
- Maintain a safe driving record if transportation of students is part of the duties.
- Support the implementation of behavioral health strategies as directed by the supervising staff.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent is required.
- For Title One Schools, an Associate's degree or 60 college credits, or a passing score on the Praxis Paraprofessional test is required.
- CPR Certification is mandatory.
- Completion of Safe Crisis Management training within six months of employment is required.
- Ability to lift 35 pounds for General Health Assistants.
