About the position

The ESE Assistant - General position is a full-time role within the Clay County School District, located in Green Cove Springs, FL. The ESE Assistant will work closely with teachers and other staff members to implement educational programs tailored to the individual needs of students. In this position, the ESE Assistant will be responsible for assisting in the daily activities of students, including helping with classroom tasks, providing support during lessons, and facilitating social interactions among peers. The assistant will also be involved in monitoring student progress and behavior, reporting any concerns to the supervising teacher. Training will be provided by the district, and the assistant must complete specific training programs within the first six months of employment, including Safe Crisis Management, First Aid, CPR, and Medication Administration as required by Federal Medicaid regulations. The role may also involve transportation of students, which requires a valid Florida Driver's License and a safe driving record. The ESE Assistant must be prepared to lift up to 35 pounds as part of their duties, particularly when assisting students with mobility challenges. Responsibilities

  • Assist students with exceptional needs in daily activities and classroom tasks.
  • Support teachers in implementing educational programs tailored to individual student needs.

  • Facilitate social interactions among students to promote inclusion and teamwork.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or equivalent is required for all applicants.
  • For Title One Schools, an Associate's degree, 60 college credits, or a passing score on the Praxis Paraprofessional test is required.
  • Completion of training in CPR, First Aid, and Medication Administration within six months of employment is mandatory for Behavioral Health Assistants and General Health Assistants assigned to Medicaid students.
  • A valid Florida Driver's License and a safe driving record are required if transportation of students is part of the job duties.
  • Ability to lift 35 pounds is required for General Health Assistants.
