About the position

The Emergency Guest (Substitute) Teacher position at Washougal School District is designed for individuals who are available on an on-call basis to fill in for absent teachers. This role is crucial in maintaining the continuity of education for students when regular teachers are unavailable. The position requires a Bachelor's degree and the ability to obtain an Emergency Substitute Teacher certification from the Washington State Office of Superintendent of Public Instruction (OSPI). The substitute teacher will be expected to implement district-approved curriculum, document student progress, and provide a safe and effective learning environment. Responsibilities

  • Facilitate student success in academic and interpersonal skills through implementing district-approved curriculum.
  • Document teaching and student progress, activities, and outcomes.

  • Provide feedback to students, parents, and administration regarding student progress and expectations.
  • Teach to district-approved course goals and objectives.
  • Instruct pupils in citizenship and basic subject matter as specified by state law and administrative regulations.
  • Provide individual and group instruction to help each pupil achieve educational objectives.
  • Maintain records as required or appropriate.
  • Supervise pupils in out-of-classroom activities during assigned periods.
  • Assist other personnel to ensure an efficient and effective work environment.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution.
  • Washington State (OSPI) Emergency Substitute teaching certificate.
  • Valid First Aid Certification.
  • Classroom experience is preferred.
  • Ability to perform algebra and/or geometry.
