About the position
The Produce Manager is responsible for ensuring exceptional customer service and maintaining a high-quality inventory of fresh produce. This role involves overseeing daily operations, managing staff, and ensuring compliance with company standards and regulations. The Produce Manager plays a key role in promoting sales through effective merchandising and customer engagement while maintaining a clean and safe work environment.
Responsibilities
- Maintains an atmosphere of enthusiastic customer awareness with an emphasis on providing fast and friendly Customer Service.
- Assists customers by making product suggestions and engaging in suggestive selling techniques.
- Plans daily operations and monitors production processes to ensure profitability.
- Trims, cuts, wraps, trays, displays, and waters produce while ensuring cleanliness of the work area.
- Implements effective promotional and seasonal displays and may operate the Salad Bar.
- Monitors employee productivity and evaluates overall performance.
- Schedules employees to ensure adequate coverage and service levels.
- Trains employees in store policies, sales, and record-keeping procedures.
- Prepares sales and inventory reports and controls inventory levels according to division directives.
- Ensures proper code dating for all products and compliance with retail labeling laws.
Requirements
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Good understanding of company practices and Produce Department policies.
- Ability to lift and maneuver objects up to approximately 50 lbs.
- Manual dexterity and good eye-hand coordination.
- Knowledge of basic mathematics and weights and measures.
Nice-to-haves
- Experience in a retail environment, particularly in produce management.
- Familiarity with inventory management systems and software.
