About the position

The Principal Industrial Engineer/Continuous Improvement Lead at Collins Aerospace will be responsible for driving customer-oriented results and excellence in the aerospace and defense industry. This role involves applying industrial engineering techniques to enhance productivity, minimize costs, and improve quality through Lean and other methodologies. The position requires collaboration with cross-functional teams to implement improvement projects and optimize production processes.

Responsibilities

  • Apply industrial engineering techniques to improve schedule performance and productivity.
  • Minimize costs and improve first-time quality through Lean and other concepts.
  • Coordinate with cross-functional teams in operations, engineering, quality, and supply chain.
  • Conduct machine and labor capacity analysis and develop improvement plans.
  • Determine efficient sequences of operations and maximize utilization of production facilities.
  • Improve and implement new processes and standards to achieve functional results.
  • Identify new techniques and technological developments for production integration.
  • Develop and recommend facility and equipment layouts to meet delivery and cost targets.
  • Drive engagement and project closure to ensure results are achieved.

Requirements

  • Typically requires a University Degree and minimum 8 years of relevant experience, or an Advanced Degree in a related field with minimum 5 years of experience, or 12 years of relevant experience in absence of a degree.
  • U.S. citizenship is required.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience working in the aerospace industry.
  • CORE, LEAN, ACE or Lean/6 Sigma experience.
  • Site lead or project manager experience.
  • Efficient in managing cost reduction and CORE projects.
  • Ability to communicate and present to all levels of the organization.
  • SAP experience is preferred.
  • Software/data science & analytics experience (SQL, Tableau, etc.) is preferred.
