About the position

The position is for an Art Teacher for grades 4-12 at Paw Paw Elementary School for the school year 2025-2026. The teacher will be responsible for providing appropriate instruction to students and ensuring that they meet the learning objectives and standards for their grade level. The role requires the development and implementation of lesson plans that fulfill the requirements of the West Virginia College and Career Readiness standards and the district's curriculum program. The teacher will also utilize technology to enhance the teaching and learning process and will be expected to deliver rigorous instruction to all students.

Responsibilities

  • Develops and implements lesson plans that fulfill the requirements of WV College and Career Readiness and district's curriculum program.
  • Uses 21st Century Technology skills to strengthen the teaching/learning process.
  • Delivers rigorous instruction to all students.
  • Prepares lessons that reflect accommodations for differences in student learning styles.
  • Presents subject matter according to guidelines established by WVDE and board policies.
  • Plans and uses appropriate instructional and learning strategies, activities, materials, and equipment.
  • Conducts assessment of student learning styles and uses results to support academic performance goals.
  • Works cooperatively with special education teachers to modify curricula as needed for special education students.
  • Works with other staff members to determine instructional goals, objectives, and methods.
  • Plans and supervises assignments of teacher aide(s) and volunteer(s).
  • Helps students analyze and improve study methods and habits.
  • Conducts ongoing assessment of student achievement through formative and informative testing.
  • Assumes responsibility for extracurricular activities as assigned.
  • Maintains a positive role model for students.
  • Creates a classroom environment conducive to learning.
  • Manages student behavior in accordance with WV Board of Education Policy 4373.
  • Takes necessary precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities.
  • Establishes and maintains open communication with parents, students, and colleagues.
  • Participates in staff development activities.
  • Keeps informed and complies with state, district, and school regulations.
  • Compiles, maintains, and files all required reports and documents.
  • Attends and participates in faculty meetings and serves on staff committees.
  • Adheres to Employee Code of Conduct.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Valid teaching certificate licensing the individual to teach in the specialization and grade levels.
  • Criminal background check conducted as per WV Code.
  • Meets the qualifications outlined in WV Code.
