About the position

The individuals who perform this job support the Store Manager and Assistant Store Manager in achieving all store objectives including maximizing sales, ensuring team member productivity, assisting in payroll controls, and driving overall profitability in the store. They train on how to supervise sales staff, stockers, cashiers, receivers, and all other non-management team members. In addition to managerial training duties, they assist as needed throughout the store and are proficient at all in-store functions. This role requires a commitment to the company's mission and values, as well as a focus on guest service and team development. The position involves a variety of responsibilities, from managing daily operations to training staff and ensuring compliance with safety regulations. The successful candidate will be expected to maintain a positive work environment and foster teamwork among employees, while also being hands-on in various store functions as needed.

Responsibilities

  • Support the Store Manager and Assistant Store Manager in achieving store objectives.
  • Train on how to supervise sales staff, stockers, cashiers, receivers, and all other non-management team members.
  • Open and close the store, arm and disarm the alarm system.
  • Manage bank deposits and balance safe.
  • Drive guest service standards by motivating team members and modeling expected service behaviors.
  • Demonstrate proficiency in all operational disciplines including receiving, cashiering, stocking, sales, and paperwork expectations.
  • Assist guests with product suggestions, focusing on in-house brands when appropriate.
  • Supervise cashiers and review till reconciliation for accuracy.
  • Work with the Store Manager and Assistant Store Manager to create schedules and assign specific tasks to team members.
  • Assist in the hiring process using the Human Capital Management (HCM) system.
  • Prepare for inventory and assist in the inventory process.
  • Communicate clearly and directly with employees concerning performance expectations, productivity, and accountability.

Requirements

  • Retail sales management experience preferred.
  • Associate degree or higher preferred, but experience is valued.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business information from emails and business journals.
  • Effective writing skills for business purposes.
  • Ability to present information and respond to questions from guests and team members.
  • Mathematical skills to perform basic calculations and understand discounts and percentages.
  • Strong work ethic and commitment to providing extraordinary service.

Nice-to-haves

  • Bilingual skills are a plus.
