About the position

The Shipping/Die Room team lead supervises and coordinates activities of workers engaged in receiving, storing, shipping products and reworking of dies. They are responsible for managing inventory, addressing operational issues, overseeing order fulfillment, and ensuring safety compliance within the shipping and die room environment. As the liaison between management and front-line employees, they assign tasks, track productivity, and maintain efficient workflows to guarantee smooth operations and client satisfaction.

Responsibilities

  • Lead, train and supervise a team
  • Ensure efficient and timely movement of inventory into and out of the warehouse
  • Maintain accurate inventory levels and ensure inventory accuracy through regular cycle counts
  • Ensure compliance with all safety regulations and company policies
  • Identify and implement process improvements to increase efficiency and productivity
  • Coordinate with other departments, such as production, quality and sales to ensure timely delivery of products
  • Resolve any issues or discrepancies with shipments or inventory
  • Schedule shipments and plan logistics to ensure that there is sufficient storage space for incoming items and staff on hand to manage the shipments and receipts of materials
  • Keep files of goods shipped and received by preparing regular shipping and receiving reports for managers
  • Ensure adherence to environmental management and systems
  • Troubleshoot shipping issues and customer complaints that arise and work to solve them
  • Place merchandise in a warehouse or storage facility by packaging, lifting items as necessary, operating forklifts and pallet jacks for large goods
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area
  • Responsible for receipt and application of raw materials
  • Create purchase orders
  • Request the initiation of an internal corrective action or supplier corrective action (SCAR) when material is found to be damaged or nonconforming
  • Complete all assigned training, including monthly health and safety sessions
  • Train new hires
  • Ensure all employees follow all PPE guidelines
  • Work in various temperature environments
  • Work in a dusty environment
  • Read SDS's to familiarize with chemicals used
  • Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • High school or GED
  • 2-3 years of shipping experience
  • Ability to communicate - verbal and written
  • Good analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to perform basic math functions with accuracy
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
  • Multi-tasking skills
  • Skilled in using Microsoft Word and Excel
