About the position

The Contracting Agent I position at Formosa Plastics Corporation, U.S.A. is a Buyer role within the petro-chemical industry. This position is responsible for performing assigned purchasing work to solicit competitive quotes efficiently and effectively, aiming to reduce costs while obtaining quality products with on-time delivery. The Buyer will conduct procurement activities using various techniques, such as analyzing previous costs and market trends, ensuring that services meet timelines and quality standards in support of centralized procurement activities.

Responsibilities

  • Perform the Contracting services for plant expansion and/or maintenance work at the right time, with the right quality, in the right quantity, and at the right price.
  • Follow procurement procedures and techniques to conduct contracting services related to pre-award and post-award functions, and perform well-defined contract actions.
  • Evaluate contractor's bid documents and specifications, analyze prices, previous performance, commitments, and indications of financial responsibility to recommend the most advantageous proposal.
  • Verify the correctness of Contract/PO documentation and properly issue the Notice of Award and Contract.
  • Observe and monitor market conditions and business practices to evaluate bid responsiveness, contractor responsibility, and performance.
  • Perform job accountability and position functions in terms of objectives, priorities, and deadlines, effectively communicating, collaborating, facilitating, influencing, and motivating internal and external contacts.

Requirements

  • 1-5 years industry business experience
  • Bachelor's Degree
  • Strong Microsoft Office Suite proficiency with Word, Excel, and Outlook
  • Knowledge of AS400 is a plus
  • Detail-oriented
  • Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment
  • Exceptional teamwork and customer service skills
  • Good oral and written communication skills
  • Regular, reliable attendance and ability to work outside the regular schedule as required
