About the position
The position is for a full-time Art Teacher at Lincoln Middle School, with a 200-day employment term. The teacher will be responsible for providing a stimulating and motivating environment for students, utilizing a variety of teaching strategies to effectively teach students with varying levels of ability. The successful applicant must possess a valid West Virginia Certificate and demonstrate strong academic background and effective communication skills. The role involves creating lesson plans, managing classroom climate, and assessing student progress.
Responsibilities
- Provide a curricula required by the State of West Virginia.
- Base instruction on adopted curricula for the school.
- Demonstrate accurate and current knowledge in subject field.
- Develop appropriate lessons to teach instructional objectives.
- Employ a variety of instructional strategies to augment achievement.
- Utilize content scope and sequence in planning.
- Follow established school discipline procedures.
- Establish procedures and rules that enhance learning.
- Encourage students' attendance and set high positive expectations for performance.
- Treat students in a fair and equitable manner.
- Create and maintain an environment that supports learning.
- Prepare and implement lesson plans.
- Monitor and evaluate students' progress.
- Communicate regularly and effectively with students, co-workers, parents/guardians, and the community.
Requirements
- Valid West Virginia Certificate in the area for which applying.
- Strong academic background.
- Ability to create a stimulating and motivating environment for children.
- Knowledge of various teaching strategies.
- Effective communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Ability to understand and interpret test data.
- Knowledge of Effective School Research.
- Ability to maintain cooperative working relationships.
- Knowledge of the curriculum for the subject matter.
- Understanding of principles for positive classroom behavior.
- Knowledge and/or experience working with computers.
