About the position

The position is for a full-time Art Teacher at Lincoln Middle School, with a 200-day employment term. The teacher will be responsible for providing a stimulating and motivating environment for students, utilizing a variety of teaching strategies to effectively teach students with varying levels of ability. The successful applicant must possess a valid West Virginia Certificate and demonstrate strong academic background and effective communication skills. The role involves creating lesson plans, managing classroom climate, and assessing student progress.

Responsibilities

  • Provide a curricula required by the State of West Virginia.
  • Base instruction on adopted curricula for the school.
  • Demonstrate accurate and current knowledge in subject field.
  • Develop appropriate lessons to teach instructional objectives.
  • Employ a variety of instructional strategies to augment achievement.
  • Utilize content scope and sequence in planning.
  • Follow established school discipline procedures.
  • Establish procedures and rules that enhance learning.
  • Encourage students' attendance and set high positive expectations for performance.
  • Treat students in a fair and equitable manner.
  • Create and maintain an environment that supports learning.
  • Prepare and implement lesson plans.
  • Monitor and evaluate students' progress.
  • Communicate regularly and effectively with students, co-workers, parents/guardians, and the community.

Requirements

  • Valid West Virginia Certificate in the area for which applying.
  • Strong academic background.
  • Ability to create a stimulating and motivating environment for children.
  • Knowledge of various teaching strategies.
  • Effective communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Ability to understand and interpret test data.
  • Knowledge of Effective School Research.
  • Ability to maintain cooperative working relationships.
  • Knowledge of the curriculum for the subject matter.
  • Understanding of principles for positive classroom behavior.
  • Knowledge and/or experience working with computers.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in planning lessons to meet diverse student needs.
  • Proven ability to deal with students of various abilities.
