About the position

The Associate Principal at North Shore School District 112 plays a crucial role in supporting the principal in the administration and educational leadership of Ravinia School. This position focuses on improving instruction, curriculum development, and staff development while ensuring a safe and effective learning environment. The Associate Principal will also take on administrative leadership responsibilities in the absence of the principal, promoting community engagement and student achievement.

Responsibilities

  • Assist the principal in the administration, organization, safety, supervision, and educational leadership of the school.
  • Assume administrative leadership in the absence of the principal.
  • Improve instruction and focus on curriculum and staff development.
  • Support progressive education ideals and practices in conjunction with 21st Century learning principles.
  • Develop and implement activities that encourage students to be lifelong learners.
  • Ensure effective community-staff-student relations by promoting communication and participation.
  • Provide a positive learning climate by establishing and maintaining appropriate student behavior standards.
  • Direct the staff development and evaluation of employees.
  • Prepare and monitor the school's budget and expenditure of funds.
  • Ensure a safe and secure environment for staff and students by developing effective safety programs.
  • Communicate and implement State and Federal laws, Board policy, and District regulations.
  • Participate in the selection and training of new employees.
  • Organize and supervise extracurricular activities.

Requirements

  • Illinois State Board of Education Professional Educator Licensure with a General Administrative or Principal endorsement.
  • Minimum of a Master's Degree.
  • Full/part-time experience as a teacher or certified employment in an educational setting.

  • Experience with special education programming and regulations.
  • Knowledge of data-driven decision-making in education.
  • Experience in community engagement and parental involvement initiatives.
