About the position
The Associate Principal at North Shore School District 112 plays a crucial role in supporting the principal in the administration and educational leadership of Ravinia School. This position focuses on improving instruction, curriculum development, and staff development while ensuring a safe and effective learning environment. The Associate Principal will also take on administrative leadership responsibilities in the absence of the principal, promoting community engagement and student achievement.
Responsibilities
- Assist the principal in the administration, organization, safety, supervision, and educational leadership of the school.
- Assume administrative leadership in the absence of the principal.
- Improve instruction and focus on curriculum and staff development.
- Support progressive education ideals and practices in conjunction with 21st Century learning principles.
- Develop and implement activities that encourage students to be lifelong learners.
- Ensure effective community-staff-student relations by promoting communication and participation.
- Provide a positive learning climate by establishing and maintaining appropriate student behavior standards.
- Direct the staff development and evaluation of employees.
- Prepare and monitor the school's budget and expenditure of funds.
- Ensure a safe and secure environment for staff and students by developing effective safety programs.
- Communicate and implement State and Federal laws, Board policy, and District regulations.
- Participate in the selection and training of new employees.
- Organize and supervise extracurricular activities.
Requirements
- Illinois State Board of Education Professional Educator Licensure with a General Administrative or Principal endorsement.
- Minimum of a Master's Degree.
- Full/part-time experience as a teacher or certified employment in an educational setting.
