About the position

The position is for a 1.0 FTE Long-Term Substitute High School Math Teacher, covering a leave of absence from approximately March 6, 2025 to April 17, 2025. This is a full-time role that requires teaching three classes of AP Calculus BC and one class of Contemporary Applied Math. The teacher will be responsible for creating a conducive learning environment, preparing lesson plans, assessing student progress, and maintaining classroom order. The position is non-benefits eligible and offers a per diem rate of $175.

Responsibilities

  • Cover a leave of a full-time high school math teacher.
  • Teach 3 classes of AP Calculus BC and 1 class of Contemporary Applied Math.
  • Meet and instruct students during assigned class time.
  • Plan a program of study that meets the individual needs of students.
  • Create a conducive classroom environment.
  • Prepare for classes and show evidence of preparation.
  • Encourage students to maintain standards of classroom behavior.
  • Guide the learning process toward curriculum goals.
  • Employ a variety of instructional techniques.
  • Assess student accomplishments and provide progress reports.
  • Maintain accurate records as required by law and district policy.
  • Assist administration in implementing policies and rules.
  • Be available to students and parents for education-related purposes.
  • Plan and supervise assignments for teacher aides and volunteers.
  • Maintain and improve professional competence.
  • Attend staff meetings and serve on committees.
  • Instruct pupils in citizenship and basic subject matter.
  • Develop lesson plans and instructional materials.
  • Translate lesson plans into learning experiences.
  • Establish standards of pupil behavior.
  • Evaluate pupils' academic and social growth.
  • Communicate with parents about pupil progress.
  • Identify pupil needs and cooperate with professional staff.
  • Create an effective learning environment.
  • Administer group standardized tests.
  • Participate in curriculum development programs.
  • Participate in faculty committees and sponsor pupil activities.
  • Perform all other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Appropriate licensure in the subject and at the grade level posted strongly preferred.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • High level of capability with technology.
