About the position

The Certified Medical Assistant in Behavioral Health is responsible for supporting the provider in both front office and back office tasks within an outpatient setting. This role is crucial for ensuring efficient patient management and includes a variety of duties such as clerical tasks, assisting with patient flow, taking vital signs, and preparing patients for examinations. The position also involves assisting the provider with procedures and managing patient referrals and related paperwork.

Responsibilities

  • Assist the provider with front office and back office duties in outpatient management of patients.
  • Perform receptionist and clerical duties to facilitate patient flow.
  • Take vital signs and prepare patients for examinations.
  • Assist the provider with procedures as directed and needed.
  • Manage patient referrals and associated paperwork to ensure efficient operations.

Requirements

  • High School diploma required.
  • Medical Assistant certification from an accredited training program with AAMA or NCMA certification required.
  • American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.
  • Mandatory Reporter Certification required.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology is essential.
  • Ability to demonstrate self-confidence and a positive attitude toward self and others.
  • Excellent team player with strong communication skills.
  • Exceptional customer service and phone etiquette are necessary.
  • Ability to maintain effective and organized systems for timely patient flow.
  • One year of experience in an outpatient or urgent care clinic preferred.
  • Knowledge of EPIC preferred.
