About the position

The 1:1 Aide position at SESI involves providing individualized support to students with special needs in educational settings. The role focuses on enhancing student potential through collaboration with teachers, monitoring behavior, and implementing tailored educational strategies. The aide will work closely with diverse groups of students, ensuring their academic, social, and emotional needs are met while fostering a positive learning environment.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with the teacher to work with small groups of students in delivering individualized services and support.
• Monitor student behavior and track educational progress.
• Communicate with parents and reinforce learning and skills through proven models.
• Lead small group instruction using the SESI academic rotational model.
• Provide customized behavior and academic support and conduct assessments.
• Assign relevant tasks and complete one-on-one tutorials to reinforce learning.
• Assist the teacher with large group activities and grading work.
• Utilize behavior support and intervention strategies, including de-escalation techniques and crisis management.
• Support the creation and implementation of daily plans.
• Document and track student growth and progress toward goals.
• Supervise students and ensure they are monitored at all times.
• Collaborate with other teachers and service providers to address students' needs.

Requirements

• High school diploma required; college experience or bachelor's degree highly preferred.
• Experience working with students with special needs in an educational setting preferred.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience working with students in a classroom setting.
• Familiarity with special education practices and strategies.
