About the position

We are seeking a compassionate Personal Care Assistant (PCA) to provide 1:1 care to a child with special needs in their home. The ideal candidate will assist with daily living and personal care services in accordance with an established care plan. This position offers both part-time and full-time opportunities, allowing for flexibility in scheduling to meet the needs of the client and their family. The client is a child with Down Syndrome who is mostly non-verbal but has a good understanding of communication. Evening and weekend hours are available, and the family is supportive and involved in the care process. Responsibilities

• Provide health care services in the patient's residence
• Perform domestic and household tasks
• Assist with the client's personal care activities
• Maintain patients' care records and document provided services
• Assist patients with mobility and physical therapies/exercises
• Provide companionship and basic emotional or psychological support

Requirements

• Familiarity with basic nutrition and personal hygiene standards
• Proficiency in English
• Caring and compassionate personality
• Must be able to lift, turn, position, and transfer up to 50lbs
• Proven working experience as a Personal Care Assistant
• Health care administration skills
• Experience working with non-verbal children
• Able to keep up with the child
