About the position
The Itinerant Multi-Cat Special Education Teacher with Autism Certification is responsible for implementing educational programs for students with autism in Pendleton County Schools. This part-time position focuses on fostering a conducive learning environment, utilizing effective instructional strategies, and maintaining communication with students, parents, and educational personnel. The teacher will monitor student progress and adapt teaching methods to meet individual needs, ensuring compliance with state educational standards.
Responsibilities
- Implements the assigned program of study.
- Fosters a classroom climate conducive to learning.
- Utilizes instructional management systems that increase student learning and maximize time on task.
- Monitors student progress towards achieving instructional objectives and goals (IGOs).
- Communicates effectively within the educational community and with parents on a regular basis.
- Meets professional responsibilities.
- Maintains and upgrades professional skills.
- Maintains professional work habits.
- Promotes and maintains positive pupil-teacher-parent relationships.
- Adheres to the teacher code of conduct.
- Performs other job-related duties as assigned by the principal.
Requirements
- WV Teacher Certification in Special Education with an endorsement in Autism.
- Meet minimum standards for certification as set forth by the West Virginia State Board of Education.
- Good evaluations and/or recommendations from professional associates, employers, and/or supervisors.
- Ability to communicate effectively with students, school personnel, and parents.
- Ability to motivate students and get them excited about learning.
- Ability to pass a criminal background check.
