About the position

The Accounts Receivable Clerk at Recology Environmental Solutions Inc. is responsible for performing accounts receivable functions in compliance with company policies and standard accounting practices. This role involves high-volume daily reconciliation of cash receipts, billing processes, customer account management, and collections functions, ensuring accurate financial reporting and customer service.

Responsibilities

  • Performs high volume of daily reconciliation of cash receipts and weight tags for multiple sites.
  • Creates various reports for local management and state agencies regarding tonnage and commodities collected.
  • Performs the billing process, including reconciling customer accounts and sending invoices.
  • Maintains monthly billing files, including messages, and launches billing as scheduled.
  • Communicates with the subsidiary and interfaces with the controller for final billing functions.
  • Verifies and processes Accounts Receivable payments, applying payments to accounts.
  • Prepares analysis and reconciliation of customer individual accounts as required.
  • Establishes customer accounts using credit methods and verifications; maintains customer files and historic data.
  • Answers customer inquiries, including account reconciliation support/analysis.
  • Performs collections functions including calling past due customers and creating monthly collection letters.
  • Sets up and follows through on payment arrangements and reviews accounts for service interruptions.
  • Stops accounts for non-payment customers as directed and assembles documentation for collections service as directed.
  • Data entry of rates into the system and collaborates with local management until final approval of entry is received.
  • Ensures accuracy of entries by reviewing reports.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Two years related accounting, bookkeeping or collections experience.
  • Knowledge of specific accounting procedures and company services.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Excel and other Microsoft Office suite applications.
  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Bachelor's degree preferred.
  • Valid driver's license preferred.
