About the position

The Direct Support Professional (DSP) at Venture Community Services plays a crucial role in advocating for and supporting adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities. This position focuses on empowering individuals to lead active lives by assisting them with daily tasks and promoting their independence. The DSP is responsible for a variety of support needs, including personal care, household maintenance, and community engagement, while ensuring compliance with agency policies and regulations.

Responsibilities

• Advocate for and support adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities.
• Assist individuals with daily living activities such as meal preparation, bathing, and dressing.
• Accompany individuals to medical appointments and community outings.
• Administer medications and follow Behavior Support Plans and Individual Support Plans.
• Maintain certifications and comply with agency policies and DDS regulations.
• Participate in paid training programs including CPR/First Aid and Medication Administration Program.

Requirements

• Must be 21 years or older with reliable transportation and a valid driver's license.
• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Ability to speak, read, and write in fluent English.
• Commitment to assisting people with varying disabilities.
• Proven record of conscientious and responsible behavior.
