About the position

The Principal Engineer - Technical Support Specialist at Indian Eyes LLC is responsible for providing advanced technical expertise and support to SRNS operations, addressing complex technical issues that have site-wide implications. This role involves directing and managing various technical operations programs, ensuring compliance with governing directives, and developing training programs for technicians. The position requires a high level of creativity and problem-solving skills to navigate unique challenges in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

  • Provide advanced expertise and support to SRNS operations to resolve broad technical issues.
  • Direct, plan, develop, implement, and administer technical operations related programs.
  • Ensure compliance of technical aspects of operations or maintenance programs with governing directives.
  • Interface and negotiate with vendors to resolve equipment and technical issues.
  • Evaluate and analyze equipment, instruments, and procedures for upgrading operations programs.
  • Procure new equipment and instruments in support of assigned operations programs.
  • Develop operating procedures and training programs for less qualified technicians.
  • Direct daily activities of less qualified technicians and serve as a point of contact for complex technical issues.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in electrical or mechanical engineering preferred with 8-12 years of related experience, or an Associate's degree with 12-15 years of practical experience, or a high school diploma with 4-6 additional years of practical experience.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a DOE 'Q' security clearance.
  • Considerable creativity to address unique and new problem areas.
  • Experience in directing less qualified technical support specialists.
  • Ability to develop and administer schedules and performance requirements.

Nice-to-haves

  • Minimum of 20 years of operations or maintenance experience in Tritium Facilities or the commercial nuclear industry.
  • Certification/qualification in one of the Tritium Facilities as a FLM, Planner, or SOM.
  • Experience with DOE Order (O) 433.1B and related directives and standards.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in development, review, and execution of Maintenance programs.
