About the position

The Database Administrator will support the ongoing use of the WellSky Community Services database system for the Southern California Division of The Salvation Army. This role involves addressing licensing needs, customizing input screens and reports, providing training and technical support to users, and ensuring data integrity. The Administrator will also analyze service impacts and create dashboards to inform decision-making, while acting as a liaison for data-sharing between programs and state HMIS systems.

Responsibilities

• Support the mission and goals of The Salvation Army through the implementation and usage of WellSky and HMIS database software.
• Guide system development by recommending internal SC WellSky policies that respond to agency needs and funding mandates.
• Ensure user licensing and compliance with state and federal guidelines.
• Coordinate data gathering, analysis, and reporting among Corps and Divisions for funding agents.
• Participate in Territorial/National WellSky meetings and related committees.
• Create and update training materials and host monthly virtual trainings for users.
• Provide in-person and virtual training for new and current users throughout the division.
• Assess system and training needs of social services personnel and improve system functioning as needed.
• Implement administrative setups and changes for the database and tailor modules and reports to meet organizational needs.
• Write custom reports for identified reporting needs within WellSky.

Requirements

• Computer systems degree expected or equivalent experience.
• 2 years of professional experience working with databases and data management.
• Demonstrated effectiveness in staff training.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience with Homeless Management Information Systems (HMIS) and Service Point/WellSky software preferred.
